Purchase costs in North Rhine-Westphalia
There are costs beyond the purchase price. In NRW, budget for roughly 9 to 10 per cent on top.
- Land transfer tax: 6.5 % of the purchase price (current NRW rate)
- Notary and land registry: around 1.5 to 2 %
- Buyer's commission: 3.57 % incl. VAT on residential property
- Where applicable: surveyor, removals and renovation costs
Banks generally do not finance these additional costs — they have to be met from your own funds. Budgeting for them early avoids unpleasant surprises shortly before the notary appointment.
